Zeavola Resort is located in the Phi Phi National Marine Park, an archipelago of six spectacular tropical islands in the Andaman Sea. The superb scenery of these picture postcard islands includes high forested hills with jutting limestone cliffs surrounded by marvelous white sand beaches and the emerald sea home an exotic underwater world of coral reefs and colorful marine life.
The Phi Phi National Marine Park is part of Krabi province and is situated 42 kilometers off the coast of Phuket, both are popular vacation destinations where visitors enjoy diving and snorkeling, kayaking and other marine recreation activities. The Phi Phi Islands are known as the kingdom of undersea flowers, attracting divers to swim amongst the wide variety of tropical fish, colorful flowers and beautiful coral reefs.
The largest of the Phi Phi Islands is Phi Phi Don where the hotels can be found, and Phi Phi Ley an uninhabited island home to the amazing Maya Bay, made famous by the Hollywood blockbuster ‘The Beach’ which filmed here in 1998. This is a very popular destination so to avoid the masses we highly recommend visiting Maya Bay early in the morning before the day-trip ferries arrive from Phuket.
Maya Bay is a stunning sheltered bay surrounded by towering cliffs which wrap around the powder soft white sand beach and exceptionally clear water. Explore the flora and fauna behind the beach and discover a small lagoon with a passage through to Loh Samah Bay, a great spot for snorkeling.
The deep emerald Phi Lei Lagoon is another unmissable attraction at Phi Phi Ley Island, a beautiful place to swim almost enclosed by high cliffs with a small sandy bay revealed at low tide. The scenic coves along the western and south-eastern shores are favorite stops for snorkeling. And the Viking Cave found here is named because of the ancient color paintings of ships that are believed to resemble Viking boats. Inside, the cave is securely guarded for its valuable bird’s nests, which are harvested and sold as a delicacy.
The Bida Islands are off to the south of Phi Phi Ley. With no beaches these rocky atolls provide the famous deep diving reefs. On the eastern side the reefs are about 8-10 meters deep but on the deep western side the wall drops to an impressive 32 meters. Here you can often see some of Thailand great marine life including whale sharks and manta rays in season.
The larger and inhabited, Phi Phi Don attracts hundreds of visitors to stay on its beautiful glistening shores. There are no roads so there´s no need for motorbikes or cars so life is more relaxed, but no less exciting. Tonsai the main village is where the large passenger ferries arrive and is the starting point for many activities such as walking, climbing, kayaking, snorkeling, deep sea fishing or scuba diving.
The main attraction of Tonsai Bay is the viewpoint, 350 m high up on the mountain. The walk takes around 45 minutes but it’s worth it to see the stunning view of the isthmus of the two bays almost connecting in the middle.
Laem Tong Beach is where Zeavola Resort is located. It is a great place for first time snorkelers just along the reef drop off which runs parallel to the beach and continues all the way up north to the Tong Cape. Take a kayak and paddle along to explore on your own.
Nui Bay is famous for its good scuba diving and the beach is ideal for a relaxing picnic. Between “Camel Rock” on the outside of the bay and the beach is an excellent shallow area for swimming, snorkeling and kayaking. When the tide is low you can snorkel in to the small caverns in the limestone cliffs.
Yong-Ka-Sem is a beautiful beach with great snorkeling. Monkeys living in the mountains may come down to beg for food, but beware of feeding them (don’t bring any food on to the beach) as it may create an aggressive behavior in the animals as they have been known to bite.
Wang Long Bay is the hidden beach in the mountain! High cliffs on either side create a narrow passage to a small lagoon with a beach hidden from the sea. The beach is only reachable during high tide. But don’t worry the Canyon style area is a great swimming and photo opportunity!
The other islands of Phi Phi located in the north are Bamboo Island (Koh Phai) and Mosquito Island (Koh Yung). Bamboo Island is located just opposite the Zeavola Resort and has dramatic white sand beach with colorful views of the Krabi coastline. The island is surrounded by coral reefs. In the afternoon this island becomes peaceful and remote and serves as main destination of our Sunset cruise.
